Eric Felts Biography
"1970 - I stepped on a pair of skates at rainbow skating rink in Huntsville, Alabama. This was my very first experience on skates thanks to my older sister. I continued skating in this rink till the early 1980's.
1979 - Getaway Skatepark in Huntsville, Alabama opened. I started on a skateboard but quickly switched to rollerskates. I spent a lot of time in the C-Run, Cloverleaf Bowl, 30/45/60 degree bowls and the Snakerun. Later on I went to the big stuff: Keyhole Pool and the 3/4 Pipe Capsule. My influences were: Delourdes Mcoy, Paul Gierow and a few others I didn't know but just saw them skate.
1982 - Getaway closed and my skating switched to ramps more or less.
1984 - Sent a resume and pictures to Gullwing Trucks and Vision Skateboards hoping to get a sponsorship. Received a support sponsorship from both. Did a lot of demos at fairs, carnivals, skate/surf shops and skateboard contests. Travels took me to all over the southeast as well as California and up North too. This continued till1987 when I couldn't take corporate skating any more. I retired and went to college earning a BFA in Graphic Design. I've bounced in and out of skating for years looking forward to another round of vertical stunts.
Rollerskate influences: Delourdes Mcoy, Duke Rennie, Kenny Means.
Life influences: The Last American Gladiator, Evel Kinievel: “Live life full throttle."
