A private skatepark located in a warehouse in Burnaby. It featured 3 mini-ramps, a large street area with launch pads, pyramid, fun boxes and rails and whatever else was brought in as obstacles. RIP The Projekt.
The Projekt closed in 2002
The Projekt was an attempt by New Line, Sk8itup and local skateboarders to provide an indoor place to skate (for those long rainy months) despite the difficulties of zoning, insurance and everything else that makes running a successful indoor skatepark so hard. So it had to remain undercover and admission was on a quasi-invitation basis.
The place was great, a large warehouse with two rooms: one for two mini-pipes and one for launch ramps and a central pyramid with rails, ledges some quarter-pipes on the back wall and another half-pipe in the corner. Very laid back atmosphere, very nice setup.
RIP The Projekt.
