In this video we show you how to install a heel brake on your roller skate.

In this video, I'm going to show you how to install a Sure-Grip heel brake onto a Sure-Grip
skate.
The components of your heel brake are: the brake mount, the 11 mm nuts, the washers that go under those nuts onto the U-bolt, which goes around the truck on your skate, as well as a 5/16" stopper, and the screw that attaches your stopper to the brake mount.
Some things that you'll need to help you install your heel brake unit are: a 1/2" socket wrench to remove your wheel nuts, an 11mm socket wrench for the nuts on your heel brake unit, as well as a flat head screwdriver for the stopper.
I find it easiest to install your heel brakes without your wheels on your skates. So, let's remove the other one.
First step is to loop the U-bolt around the pivot on your skate like this.
And then insert the U-bolt to the heel brake mount, making sure that the cupped part is at the
rounded edge of your truck here, like this.
Next, you want to put your washers onto the U-bolt.
And then the 11 mm nuts.
When tightening down your heel brake, you want to make sure that you're evenly tightening down both sides so that it's not pulling further to one side than the other.
Using your 11 mm socket, we will start tightening this down.
It may take a bit to get this just right.
What you want to make sure is that it's tight.
It's not wiggling around on the truck.
It's seated properly and curved nicely on the top of your truck, as well as it's centered so
it's not inhibiting your wheels.
The next step is to install your stopper.
Take your bell stopper and insert the screw through the center, like that.
Then put it on the heel brake and with your flathead screwdriver, tighten it down.
You also want to make sure that this is installed properly and tightly so that it doesn't loosen while you're skating and fall off.
Last step is to install your wheels again.
And you have installed your heel brake!
