Hi, this is Lisa from RollerGirl.ca, and today I'd like to show you my favourite lacing technique for strap style toe protectors.

The strap style toe protectors are popular because they are really affordable, but they're not so great because they have a tendency to shift and come loose.
With this lacing technique we find that they stay in place a lot better, this is how it goes.

Before we get to lacing the skate, it's important that we install the toe protector correctly on the stopper.
So, the stopper goes through the toe protector, then the hex nut, and then the washer.
It's really important that it goes in this order.
We see a lot of people installing their toe protectors between the stopper hardware and the plate, pinched there.
A lot of people do this so that the toe protector doesn't move.
But the downside of doing this is that it's nearly impossible to tighten your stoppers enough that they do not fall off.
So we are going to thread our stoppers to our desired length, and secure them.
Remember not to be shy when tightening your stoppers.
You really need to use force in order for them to stay properly.

Now we will lace the toe protector.
You start by lacing down from the top across the back.
And then, making sure we have even laces on either sides, you're going to lace once again from the top.
In through the first eyelets, and pull tight on both sides, making sure to keep the toe protector in position the whole time.
Here's the confusing part.
It makes it easier if you flip the top of it.
You're gonna lace across and up through the hole in the toe protector on both sides, and once again pull tight.
Back down through the top.
And repeat for as many holes as you have in your toe protector.
See how snug that is.
Last time from the top.
And then lace your skates as normal

And there's the final result.
Toe protector installed, firmly, and in place.
