In this video we talk about replacement cushions for the Riedell Marvel roller skate plates, as found on the Moxi Beach Bunny, Moxi Jungle, Moxi Panther, Riedell Dart, and the Riedell Orbit.
Hi, this is Zoe from RollerGirl.ca and today I'm going to talk to you about installing cushions on your Marvel plates.
Marvel plates are aluminum plates found on entry-level products like Moxi Beach Bunnies, Ridell
Darts, and Ridell Orbits.
These plates come with standard cushions that are fairly hard and there's no manufacturer
replacement for them.
We suggest replacing them with the Reactor Magic cushions from PowerDyne.
They're much softer and have a very similar shape to the standard cushions that come on the
marble plates.
The tool that you would need to use for this is a 9/16" socket wrench or the tool that we're using today, the PowerDyne Y3 tool.
The first thing you want to do is remove the 9/16" kingpin nut from the top of the kingpin
here.
Remove the whole assembly.
Marvel plates have a small metal washer that is closest to the plate.
You want to keep this, make sure you keep track of it.
Don't lose it.
So, you keep this installed on your plate.
The barrel cushion on the standard cushions is quite tall in comparison to these ones.
To keep the geometry of your plates correct, we add a 2 mm washer to the bottom of the
plate.
You do that by placing this on first to your kingpin, then replacing the washer of your barrel
cushion.
Next up is the barrel cushion itself.
And then you replace the truck of your skate, making sure that the pivot is seated in the pivot
cup properly and that it holds the cushion as well.
You'll then want to replace the conical.
This is very similar to the shape of the standard cushion that comes on these plates, which is
one of the reasons why it's the best option.
Next up is the retainer for that cushion.
And then you want to replace the 9/16" kingpin nut.
It's really important to readjust all of your trucks once you've replaced your cushions.
