Skip Lacing technique to relieve foot pains

In this video we show you our favourite lacing technique to solve foot pain in your roller skates (or shoes!).

Transcript:

In this video, we're talking about skip lacing.

This is my favorite lacing technique for people with bunions, wide feet, previous foot injuries that are causing them pain, or just to help with the discomfort of breaking-in new skates.

This is a great technique because it allows you to reduce the lace tension at one point on the boot while maintaining it everywhere else.

First, you need to identify the spot on the boots where you are feeling pain or too much pressure.
Put your foot inside the skate. Then, reach down and touch the boot where you're feeling the pain or discomfort.
Locate the pair of eyelets that is closest to this point. We're going to skip those eyelids.

Usually, we find that most people have issues at the widest part of their foot. So, it is common to have to skip the first or second set of eyelets.
Although, this technique works anywhere on the boot.
So, if your pain is in the arch or in another area, you can skip eyelets there as well.

For this example, we're going to be skipping the second set of eyelets.
Unlace your skates just beyond this point.
Now release your skates, skipping that pair of eyelets.

There's nothing that ruins the joy of skating more than pain. I hope this technique makes your skating experience more comfortable.
